FROM PUTTAPARTHI...SPIRITUAL QUOTIENT - 12: THE CINEMA SCREEN !

SPIRITUAL QUOTIENT – 12

THE CINEMA SCREEN!!! & MORE ANALOGIES…

  • To give an analogy, consider a cinema; on the screen we see rivers in flood, engulfing all the surrounding land. Even though the scene is filled with flood waters the screen does not get wet by even a drop of water.

At another time, on the same screen we see volcanoes erupting with tongues of flame, but the screen is not burnt.

The screen which provides the basis for all these pictures is not affected by any of them. We see so many films, actors playing their roles and later some of them get awards!

Likewise our SOUL or ATMA doesn't get affected at all. Good or bad, joy or sorrow, birth or death, will be coming and going, but they do not affect the Atma.In the cinema of life, the screen is the Atma. GOD is the Producer & Director! He's the witness, the spectator & the judge to decide who should get what kind of rewards!!!

The actors perform their roles & get out of the scene. Their roles are not real!

Since SWAMI has said 'YOU'RE ALSO THAT', we can also be a witness & watch the entire film show called 'THE WORLD' & not be affected by the outcomes!

But our ego gets inflated due to our physical and mental strength, intellectual power, wealth and property. Power and position makes one egoistic. How long will this last? Just like the film, just for a while only! In fact, everything we possess is momentary, including our own body. But all that is temporary and fleeting, we consider permanent!!!

Some more examples:

·        All experiences of pleasure and pain have their origin in the subtle thoughts of man. A thought is like the seed of a tree, which in due course puts forth branches, leaves, flowers and fruits. All that you see in a tree has come from a small seed. Likewise, although man's thought is subtle, it contains potentially the entire universe.

The atom is the microcosm of the Universe. One may have noticed the huge
size of the banyan tree; however its seed is very small. Intrinsically, the seed and the tree are essentially one.

  • There is a beautiful picture by a great artist, Holman Hunt. In the picture, Christ is seen standing in a garden holding a lantern in one hand and with the other, knocking on a door. A friend of the artist said to him, "Holman, you have made a mistake. The door you have painted does not have a handle."

"It is not a mistake," answered the artist, "for that is the door of the human heart and can only be opened from the inside!!!" To make that move towards God, we need to get up and open the door to let God in. This happens only when man realizes the need for God.

This is known as spiritual awakening. Something happens deep within you and your life becomes new. You are filled with light and warmth, joy and peace. You realize that the life you had lived till then, a life of creature comforts and of pride, self and power was not life at all.

·        Arjuna asked Krishna, "You say that this whole world is nothing but a projection of our mind and is therefore nothing but a dream. But you too have taken a Form in this dream, so are you also not a part of this dream?"

Krishna smiled and replied, "Yes my dear, I too am part of your dream. But I am like the roaring lion in the dream. My roaring will wake you up from this dream unto reality!"
