FROM PUTTAPARTHI...FROM PANAMA !!!

The 1st visitor to Prasanti Nilayam from PANAMA was Dany Nandwani who came to see Sai Baba in 1962. Dany was only 19 years old then, but he was so taken with Baba that he became devoted for life. And since then his family always basked under the divine love and protective umbrella of Lord Sai.

In the year 2000, the Nandwani family was conferred a great blessing though after a huge test by Baba. Dani Nandwani's son, Ashok N. Nandwani, president of a chain of stores in a booming commercial center, was kidnapped.

A relative, who was living in Prasanti Nilayam at that time, conveyed the message to Swami about the kidnapping. Baba said: "My angels are taking care of him. Don't worry, he is with me and after 7 days I will return him, but he needs lots of prayers from everybody, so tell everyone to pray for him."

The person asked, why 7 days?

Swami replied: "God took 1 week to make the world - I promised 1week. You don't have faith, and Panama is not praying enough."

Back home, many people chanted the Gayatri Mantra daily. Mr. Nandwani was worried about his son's condition, his health, what he was eating, and on the 4th day a Sai devotee heard a voice during meditation say: "I have already fed him."

On the 7th day, the relative staying in Prasanti again got an interview in which he told Swami that there was no news yet.

Baba replied: "Where is your faith? He will be back soon." At the same moment, Mr. Nandwani got a phone call from the police informing him that his son had been found and was safe and was being taken to the hospital for a checkup. He escaped from his abductors and spent 7 days lost in the jungle avoiding wild animals and crocodiles until he found his way back to civilization!!!

Recalling another incident, a Panamanian narrates, "A devotee was driving her car which was full of ladies who were going to do service at the Mother Teresa old people's home in Colon City, Panama.  They go there every Thursday with food for everyone.  This home is close to the Free Zone of the Panama Canal, so there is lots of container traffic..

The lady who was driving failed to halt at a stop sign and a huge container was approaching down on their car.  The ladies in the car screamed, and when she saw it she screamed too - "Sai Ram".  The only way to avoid the accident was to accelerate the car, but in her nervousness she hit the brake.

Somehow the car was surprisingly accelerated by hitting the brake and the accident was avoided.  Later when she stopped, her friends asked why you stopped now.  She said, note down the time, because when we get home you will see there is a message for us.

When they returned home, their maid said that in the shrine room, Swami's picture had fallen off the wall, and when the maid went to pick it up, she said Swami had winked at her from the picture!!!  The picture had fallen off the wall at exactly 12:20 PM, just the time that the ladies had noted down.  The maid is not a devotee and some of the ladies were also not devotees, but this miracle of Baba opened a new dimension in their lives."

The ways of the Lord indeed are mysterious!

FROM PUTTAPARTHI...ANOTHER LEELA OF BABA !!!

Another Leela of Baba

                                                               - By Indra Devi

That particular year (1969) I had not planned to go for Baba's birthday as I was due to visit India a little later. All the same one evening, after meditation, looking at his picture, I found myself saying: 'Bhagavan, take me to Puttaparthi for Your birthday.' Two years later, I received a phone call from Chuck Wein, a young man who used to come to our Sai Baba Centre in Los Angeles. He was calling from the Warner Brothers Motion Picture Studio.

'Mataji, can you go to
India
tomorrow? Warner Brothers will pay your passage if you will go to ask Sai Baba's permission to make a documentary film on His life...' Somehow, I wasn't even surprised and answered very calmly, 'Tomorrow is Sunday and all the offices are closed, but I can leave on Tuesday.'

'Who is paying for my ticket?' I asked the Air India manager in
Los Angeles
.

'Warner Brothers,' he replied.

I arrived just in time for the celebrations which began early in the morning when Bhagavan hoisted the Prashanthi Nilayam flag on the roof of the temple. He then declared that He was Shiva-Shakti incarnated in human form, in order to lead men towards God. He exhorted people to cleanse and purify their hearts - to make Discrimination (Viveka) their flag post, unfurl the flag of Love on in and let it flutter joyfully in the wind of Grace. He also said that He is born in each of us as Love.

'Only that day, when love is born in you, can it be my Birthday.'

At
eleven o'clock
Swami went from the temple to the auditorium in procession. His mother, Easwaramma, started the ceremony by first garlanding the Sai, then anointing His head with a flower dipped into a cup of fragrant oil. She was followed by several others chosen by Baba from among His old devotees. The procession then moved, headed by the temple elephant Sai Gita.
The day before I was ready to return home, Bhagavan called me in to give His blessing. At parting he produced, with the familiar circling motion of His hand, a beautiful golden medallion of the Goddess Lakshmi.

'I don't want anything, Bhagavan,' I pleaded.

'This is not for you... for the protection of the house - no more fires.'

I did not know at that moment how badly we would need His protection a few months later when we were about to loose the ranch.

After returning from
India
, I went to the Warner Brothers Studio, but not a soul there had ever heard of Sai Baba let alone my trip to Him!

'Another leela of Baba?' wondered Dick Bock when I told him about it.

FROM PUTTAPARTHI...VIBRIONICS HEALING SYSTEM !!!

VIBRIONICS

THE 'VIBRO HEALING SYSTEM'

1.    The VIBRO HEALING SYSTEM is an alternative system of medicine & is believed to be the medicine of the future.

2.    This has been blessed by BHAGWAN profusely several times & is being practiced in PRASANTHI NILAYAM for nearly 15 years with amazing & remarkable results as well as in Mumbai.

3.    There are as many as 108 different remedies for various illnesses or DIS – EASES or imbalances of the mind & the body organs.

4.    These vibrations can heal & cure at 3 different levels: PHYSICAL, MENTAL & EMOTIONAL IMBALANCES.

5.    OTHER CHARACTERISTICS:

·         Treats at the root level, at the very subtle level of vibrations within the human body.

·         'ZERO' side effects.

·         The pills contain only subtle vibrations & no medicine as such & hence no side effects are there.

·         It retards recurrence of the problem.

·         Strengthens immune system.

·         Detoxifies the body

·         Can be had along with any conventional allopathic medicine.

6.    Avoid coffee. (At least during the course of taking these pills)

7.    Just 1 pill at a time would suffice (keep it under the tongue & do NAAMASMARAN) & avoid food 20 minutes before & after taking the pill. Intake of Water is fine. If you're having more than 1 remedy, give a gap of 10 minutes between the two of them.

8.    Avoid touching the pill & don't expose them to sunlight.

9.    Keep the plastic bottle at least 3 – 4 feet away from electric or electronic gadgets like Computer, TV, Fridge, Mobile phone etc… Their radiations would affect & reduce the effectiveness of the medicine.

10.                       Drink plenty of water.

11.                       Above all, just PRAY. Finally it's neither the medicine nor the giver who cures…It's only SWAMI'S BLESSINGS AND HIS GRACE.

FROM PUTTAPARTHI...ANGELS & MORE ANGELS !!!

And then there's the experience I had at Baba's ashram in 1996. In the middle of His Christmas discourse, Baba waved His hand and materialized a small gold-covered book - bringing a gasp of amazement from the crowd of 50,000, me among them! (I was seated very close to Baba - and was certain it was a genuine miracle.)

That night at around
9 o'clock
I heard that Baba had announced earlier that angels would be flying above the ashram that evening. I looked into the sky, but didn't see anything unusual, so guessed I'd missed the show. However, a couple of nights later, two friends came running up to me on the street and said, "Ram Das, the angels are back! Come
on, you've got to see them!" So I followed them up to a rooftop, away from the lights of the ashram, lay down and looked up...

And in the sky above us was one of the most astonishing sights I've ever seen: hundreds of thousands of self-luminous beings flying through the air, zipping around at great speed in what seemed to be an ecstatic dance of joy! They looked a little like shooting stars - yet they were closer to the Earth, and moving not in straight lines (as asteroids, or any similar phenomena would be) but in curves and curlicues. Considering Baba's earlier announcement, I didn't see any reason to doubt that these glowing beings were indeed angels, celestial helpers in His world mission: no other phenomena I knew of could explain the sight. Sometimes two would pair up for a while as they zipped about, and they seemed to be pouring forth from some invisible gate above the ashram, where I guessed they had maybe just received Baba's darshan and instructions for their work...

The event had an unquestionably supernatural exuberance about it that left all three of us gasping in amazement. It was probably the most inspiring sight I've ever witnessed, ringing out more clearly than a thousand manifested rings the divine identity of Sathya Sai Baba.

Why would so many angels congregate in such an extraordinary way, other than to have the darshan of God?

Sorrows and disasters are the clouds that flit across the sky; they cannot injure the blue depths of space of faith. Look upon joy and sorrow as teachers of hardihood and balance. Grief is a friendly reminder, a good taskmaster, even a better teacher than joy. Do not flinch in the face of grief. Welcome the test because thereafter you are awarded the certificate. It is to measure your progress that tests are imposed. - Swami

FROM PUTTAPARTHI...WHAT JESUS SAID...INTERPRETATION !!!

Swami has overwhelmed the Christian world by declaring that it was He who sent Christ to the world, and that His incarnation had, indeed been prophesied by Christ and recorded in the Bible over 1,900 years ago. The extract of that startling revelation made by Swami before a group of Christians on the Christmas Day in 1975 is given below:

"There is one point that I cannot but bring to your special notice today. At the time when Jesus was merging in the supreme principle of divinity, he communicated some news to his followers which has been interpreted in a variety of ways by commentators and those who relish the writings on writings and meaning upon meaning, until it is all swelled up into a huge mess.

The statement itself has been manipulated and tangled in a conundrum. The statement is simple: "He who sent me among you, will come again", and he pointed to a lamb. The lamb is, merely a symbol, a sign. It stands for the voice `Ba-Ba'; the announcement was of the advent of Baba... `His name will be truth'. Christ declared. `Sathya means Truth'. `He wears a robe of red, a blood red robe'. (Here Baba pointed to the robe He was wearing). `He will be short, with crown (of hair)'. The lamb is the sign and symbol of love. Christ did not declare that He would come again; He said `He who sent me will come again'. That Ba-Ba is this Baba'. (Pointing to Him)".

PS: To a superficial observer, the life of man appears as a rotation of eating and drinking, toiling and sleeping. But verily, Life is a yagna, a sacrifice. Each little act is an offering to the Lord. Do not commit the great fault of identifying with the body. Do not accumulate a variety of things for the upkeep and the comfort of the body. Before death, everything - position, pride, power, etc. - will vanish. Realize this and strive day and night with purity of body, mind and spirit,  to realize the Higher Self by serving all living beings. Remember, Thou Art That;  You are the indestructible Eternal Self. Utilize your authority over this body to foster the welfare of the world. The body is but an instrument, an implement given by God. Let it serve its purpose. - SWAMI

FROM PUTTAPARTHI...THE UDDHAVA GITA !!!

UDDHAVA GITA

Understandably, the Gita is truly famous but Arjuna was not the only one to be favoured with direct Divine teaching; there was another equally fortunate, namely Uddhava.

Uddhava was one of the Yadavas who was deeply devoted to Krishna. Shortly before the curtain was to be rung down, Krishna acknowledged Uddhava's devotion or Bhakti by favouring him with special advice, sometimes referred to as the Uddhava Gita. Unlike the dialogue with Arjuna that was severely curtailed by the impending battle, Krishna's conversation with Uddhava was more relaxed. Uddhava wanted to know many things and Krishna patiently obliged.

The Lord said, "Uddhava, I am pleased with your spiritual thirst. Let Me quench it with some advice. First, I shall briefly recall what Dattatreya told my ancestor Yadu. In his wanderings, Yadu came across Dattatreya, around whom there was the aura or glow of inner peace. When asked about the secret, Dattatreya replied,

"O King, Nature is the best teacher. My teachers have been the earth, the sky, water, the Moon, the Sun, a pigeon, a python, the ocean, a moth, the honey-bee, the keeper of a beehive, an elephant, a deer, a fish, a woman named Pingala, a squirrel-like animal called Kurari, a child, a young girl, an archer, a snake, a spider and a wasp."

Seeing the puzzled look on Yadu's face, Dattatreya continued, "I shall explain myself with a few examples.

  • I saw that the earth bears all loads silently. This taught me forbearance and the need for being firm like a mountain.
  • Next the sky. When the sky is overcast, we think it is covered with clouds; but that is not true because there is no contact between the clouds and the sky. From this I learnt that though the Atma is enclosed in a body which is made up of the five elements, it (the Atma) is not involved with the body; in other words, the Brahman is always apart from His manifestation.
  • The water of a river is pure and sweet and it purifies those who come to it. In the same manner, good men serve to purify humanity with their presence (Darshan), their touch (Sparshan) and words (Sambhashan).
  • What about the python? As you know, the python never goes out of its way to obtain food; it is content to eat whatever comes its way, be it big or small. Sometimes it even starves for days together but it always waits patiently. This taught me that man should accept with fortitude whatever life offers, be it favourable or otherwise.
  • The moth, as you know, is attracted by flame to which it later falls a prey. It is a victim of the sense of sight which beguiles it. From this, I learnt that unless a person controlled his senses, he runs the danger of being destroyed.
  • Turning to the bee, I noticed that it does not hurt the flower it sucks nectar from. Also, it does not take more than just a small amount. Even so, a renunciate or Sannyasi must accept from a householder just so much and no more.
  • Next the Kurari. Once it had a piece of meat. Large birds then surrounded the Kurari and attacked it fiercely. The Kurari suffered much and could not ward off the attackers. Finally, it let go the piece of meat and instantly the attack stopped. To me this was a lesson that renunciation leads to peace.
  • The snake avoids company and lives by itself in a hole in the ground. Likewise, a renunciate or Sannyasi should shun company and live by himself in a secluded cave or hermitage.
  • The spider taught me the final lesson. One day I was watching this spider sitting on a branch. Suddenly he spat saliva and began to weave threads, which he made into a nice web. Later he ate the threads and soon nothing was left of the web. Even so, at the beginning of an aeon or Kalpa, Paramatma or the Supreme Lord manifests Himself as the phenomenal Universe which, later at the end of the Kalpa, He withdraws into Himself."

"This, O King", Dattatreya concluded, "should give you some idea of how to learn from Nature, shape your life and derive inner peace."

Krishna then said to Uddhava, "See Uddhava, everywhere there are lessons to learn from. These lessons would become apparent only if you train yourself to look beneath the surface and search for a meaning. Creation is beautiful but don't be dazzled by it for that is what Maya (illusion) is all about. Look beyond and you will see the Creator who is much grander!

FROM PUTTAPARTHI...LET HIM DECIDE & GIVE !!!

LET HIM DECIDE & GIVE!!!

Once a little boy went to a grocery store with his mother. The old shopkeeper looked at the small cute boy and lovingly took a bottle of his tastiest sweets and offered them to him saying in a jovial tone, "Dear child, you can take all the sweets you can hold in your tiny hands."

But the child didn't take any; he just looked up with a wistful expression on his face. The shopkeeper was a little surprised. He wondered why the little one did not take any sweets. So he tried to persuade him again, "Take the sweets, dear son."

His mother also joined in and coaxed him to accept a handful, "Come on, uncle is giving you some sweets – take a few.." Yet the boy still did not pick any.

The shopkeeper thought maybe the boy is too shy. He himself took two handfuls of sweets and gave it to the child. The boy's face lit up; he was only too happy to accept them and exclaimed, "Oh thank you, Sir!"

When they returned home, his mother asked him, "Why didn't you take the sweets when the shopkeeper offered you? There's no need to be so shy."

"Mum! I was not being shy. You see, my hands are very small and if I take the sweets from the bottle, I can only take a few. But see what happened. When the kind uncle gave them to me with his big hands... how many more sweets I got!"

When we choose and acquire from the world, we are limited by our mind's desires and expectations.. But when we pray to God to supply our wants the way He wishes and knows is best for us, He gives to us everything we could require - way beyond our needs.

Let us depend always on Him. When we rely on Him totally, we will never be short of anything, for He is the True Source of all that exists in this Universe. And His Love is unimaginable.

Bhagavan Baba says,

The Lord's grace is conferred on each devotee according to the level of that person's spiritual consciousness.  The ocean is vast and boundless, but the amount of water you can carry from it is determined by the size of the vessel you take.  If the vessel you carry is small, you cannot fill it beyond its capacity.  Likewise, if your heart is constricted, divine grace will be equally limited.  Broaden your heart and receive the plenitude of God's grace.

FROM PUTTAPARTHI...GOD IS HERE IN PRASANTHI NILAYAM!!!

God is here in Prasanthi Nilayam :

When someone asks you in great earnestness, where the Lord is to be found, do not try to dodge the question. Give them the answer that rises up to your tongue from your heart. Direct them. He is here in the Prashanthi Nilyam

- Bhagawan

How fortunate we are to have Bhagwan Sri Sathya Sai Baba moving among us and showering his Love and Grace by giving us darshan, sparshan and sambhashan. But due to his 'maya' we are sometimes deluded to think that He is a human being like any one of us. But Swami Himself keeps warning is against committing such mistake. This phenomenon is not new.

In the previous yugas also most of the people failed to recognise the Avatarhood of Rama and Krishna during their stay in the human form. In this Kaliyuga it is all the more difficult to distinguish the Avatar from the false gods who, with "outer signs of sainthood, the long
gown, the beard, the rosaries, the matted hairs"" moving about India and abroad misleading the people. It is very difficult to demarcate clearly the manifestation of the Lord. It is therefore, Swami says, "I am announcing Myself, and Myself describing My Mission, the Task, the characteristics, the qualities which mark out the Avatar from the
rest"

Moreover, it is impossible for man to understand the mystery of the Avatar unless He Himself reveals it to us. Baba, in His Divine Love, Compassions and Mercy fro us all, has been revealing from time to time His mystery and mission through His Miracles and His Divine Declarations made during His discourses, "If I don't tell you about Myself, who can? He speaks. He declares that His devotees can tell anyone in the world with full confidence and faith that "Lord is here is the Prashanthi Nilyam".

Mysterious are the ways of the Yuga Avatar Bhagwan Sri Sathya Sai Baba . He is Omnipotent, Omnipresent and Omniscient. There is no work that He cannot do by just willing it. But he gets things done through us by making us His instruments to give us ananda.

FROM PUTTAPARTHI...FROM ZIMBABWE WITH LOVE !!!

During the 2nd world conference of Sri Sathya Sai organizations held in Puttaparthi, besides the daily Divine discourses, there were talks by some of Swami's close devotees.

Dr. Nithyananda Menon, who was at that time a faculty member of Swami's college at Whitefield, narrated this astounding miracle in the DIVINE presence.

This incident is about a rich gentleman in Zimbabwe in Africa . At that time there was a lot of political turmoil in that country. This rich Landlord, who owned lot of properties in that country, had come to India and was staying in Bombay . He came in contact with many overseas visitors in that hotel, some of whom happened to be devotees of Sri Sathya Sai Baba!!!

He was hearing about Baba for the first time and came to be impressed by some of the miracles reported by others. Incidentally, Baba had also come to Bombay at that time and was in Dharmakshethra. Our gentleman from Zimbabwe accompanied others to have Baba's Darshan. He later followed Swami to Puttaparthi and stayed there for the next few months!!!

In Prasanthi Nilayam, he was also blessed with many interviews. Swami had explained to him the purpose of human birth in this planet and the necessity to live a pious and spiritual life. He was made to understand that divinity is inherent in all the creations and that love should be extended to and shared with all others especially those who work for him.

After a few months in the Divine presence, he was directed by Swami to go back to his country. He had to leave Prasanthi Nilayam reluctantly and reached Bombay on his way back to his country. During the entire period of his blissful days in Prashanthi Nilayam, he was unaware of the happenings around the world, especially in his own country!!!

On reaching Bombay , he came to know of the political upheaval in his country, involving the take over of the country by the natives from the minority government.

The Landlord got worried & called his ranch manager and was surprised to hear from him that though the country was passing through a state of turbulence, his ranch and properties had not been affected. On the contrary, the workers very considerate and demonstrated a total loyalty, something unbelievable! !!

On arrival in his country, he invited all the workers to his ranch the same night to have food with him. A large size photograph of Bhagavan Baba brought by him from Prasanthi Nilayam, covered with a piece of cloth, was kept near the chair. He mingled very freely with his workers enquiring about their welfare, which he had never done in his earlier days. After the food was served, he addressed the workers.

He conveyed his heartfelt thanks to all of them for their noble behavior even at the time of crisis in the nation. He told them of his meeting with the Living God in India and of the blissful days he spent in His Divine Presence, which had mellowed him into a true human being.

He further announced that he was going to show them the Living God and removed the cloth covering the photograph of Bhagavan Baba!!! But to his surprise this didn't evoke any trace of curiosity among the laborers. On the contrary they were laughing by themselves!

The labor leader got up and said; “You might have seen Him in India .. But till yesterday, we were seeing Him, here every day in our fields!!! First, we sighted Him one day far away in the Horizon when the sun was rising early in the morning. He raised His hands and blessed us. Later on He came down to us and conversed with us.

This was going on during all these days when you were away. He had taught us the importance of remaining loyal to those who were giving work and a living to us.. He had taught us the same path of love, which had been taught to you also.. It seems the very same God who happened to be with us had taken you also under His merciful fold. Yes sir, we were seeing Him almost everyday!

This amazing disclosure of the laborer completely astonished the landlord who was with Swami all during that time at Prasanthi Nilayam!!!

FROM PUTTAPARTHI...DIVINE INCIDENT !!!

This Incident happened in Karnataka in 2007 :

A Sai Sister Smt.Kamala was working in a BPO and had to return home quite late in the Nights.

One evening She had to walk home alone, But She always had Bhagawan's Hiranyagrabha Lingam Photo with her so she wasn't afraid , She decided to take short cut and had to walk through a small Alley, She had never been through that Alley and did not know that It had a Dead end. When she started walking, Two rough Men started following her, She started running and was chased, She came up against the Dead wall, She was cornered and did not what to do, When the men started coming near her, She clutched Swami's Photo in her Purse and as the Purse fell, Swami's Photo with the Lingam fell out, Suddenly the Two people turned looked at the Photo and then at her and started running, They were cornered as a Few people stopped them and a Police car arrived and led them away.

A Few hours after that Ms.Kamala was asked to come and give a Statement and the Policeman in the station asked her to " Show The Photo of the Man with the Orange Robe " that she carried In her Purse, He asked her as to who He was , The Girl replied that He was her God and everything, They were shocked to hear that " He Lived so Far away" because The Two people who attacked her had told the Police that they saw " The Same Man with an Orange Robe standing next to her ".

Swami takes care of everyone at all times. This is just another Example of Swami's Divine Grace.

FROM PUTTAPARTHI...COURTESY PROF ANIL KUMAR !!!

Taken from the Talks given by Prof.Anil Kumar - www.saiwisdom.com

The Secret of a Long life

Swami asked somebody, "Do you know how to live a long life?  Do you know the secret of a long life?"

"Swami, I don't know."

"It's very easy."

"What is it, Swami?"

"Only two things are needed."

"What are they?"

Bhagawan said, "One is sacrifice and the other is love or prema.  Sacrifice and love will give you long life. Thyaga or sacrifice is the medicine, while love is the diet.  If we take the medicine without following the diet, the disease will never be cured.  If we follow the diet without taking the medicine, we are nearer to the grave.  Unless we have the diet and the medicine together, the disease cannot be cured.  So the medicine of sacrifice and the diet of love — both are necessary to live a long life."  That's what Baba said.

Swami gave an example from the United States — Rockefeller.  Today, in the United States there is the Rockefeller Foundation.  This charity is working all over the United States.  How did this come about?  Rockefeller was fabulously rich -- very, very rich.  He had no time to think of anything other than making money.  He reached the stage where he forgot the amount of money he had because he was so busy.

But Rockefeller fell sick at the age of about 48.  And the doctors said, "Look here, you are not going to survive for more than eight or ten months.  You are not going to live much longer."

Who said this?  His doctors in the United States spoke this.  Doctors in the U.S. are very, very responsible, to the best of my knowledge, because they will be sued in the courts of law if anything goes wrong.  Then they would have to pay money throughout their lifetime, oh yes -- so they have to be very responsible.

So those doctors said, "You won't live very long."

So Rockefeller started distributing his money to everybody — educational institutions, medical institutions and many others all over the United States, with the result that he lived for almost 90 years.  A person, who should have left this planet earth 40 years earlier, got an extension of his life.  How is that possible?  Because of his sacrifice.

What is required today is for our hearts, which are hard like stone, to melt. Even stones wither and become ordinary sand with continuous exposure to rain and heat.  Similarly, our hearts of stone should melt, seeing people's misery, so we will be prepared to sacrifice.

The Compassion of Bhagawan

Bhagavan's compassion is so deep that sometimes He goes out of His way to bless people.  He forgets His position and He comes down to bless His devotees to any extent.

Bhagavan said that He would see an old lady while He was in Bombay.  This happened some time ago.  Bhagavan went all the way to see this old woman who was seriously ill at the time.  Even though she was lying in her bed, Bhagavan went out of His way to bless her.  To help her take padanamaskar, you won't believe what He did.  He got a footstool from the drawing room and put His feet on it so she could take padanamaskar.  He placed both of His feet on the footstool so that she would be able to touch His feet while she was still lying on the bed.  That is the compassion of Bhagavan.

Thereafter, she began to recover and she got well.  After some time, she came to Prashanti Nilayam with her three-year-old grandson.  Bhagavan blessed the grandchild and the grandma. The student who was telling this story said: "I am the same one who was blessed by Bhagavan at the age of three, who was carried by my grandmother."  Then he went on telling more about his grandmother's miracle.

Sometime later, his grandmother fell sick once again when she was in Bangalore. The doctors said she must be operated upon.

She refused, "No, you can't do it. "

The doctors said, "Why not? You need this emergency operation."

She said, "Until Bhagavan says it's alright, I am not going to be operated upon, okay?"

"How do you plan to contact Swami?  You are bedridden.  You are here in Bangalore. How will you do it?"

"No, nothing doing.  Contact Bhagavan on the phone."

Immediately the boy called Bhagavan on the phone and got a reply. It was Bhagavan's voice saying, "Don't worry.  Why fear when I am here?  Ask your grandmother to have the operation.  I will take care of her.  But give the receiver to her now.  I want to talk to her."

When the phone receiver was given to his grandmother, what happened?  Vibhuthi started coming out of it!

Bhagawan never speaks to anybody on the phone.  There was no phone connection physically.    How could that old lady's grandson speak to Him on the phone?  He is Divine.  Without having to go anywhere, without having to move to the other room to speak on the phone, His Will, His thought, His grace must have done it.  He called there in the form of sound, in the form of conversation that could be heard.

Bhagavan's miracles are meant not merely for amusement or entertainment, but for enlightenment.  Sai miracles are for enlightenment.

Swami, the Divine Master of the Universe

This happened during one of Bhagawan's Visits to Bombay. Large and Massive crowds came to have His Divine darshan and to listen to His discourses everyday.

One evening, the whole Dharmakshetra was full of devotees all round -- a sea of humanity, vast humanity – all heads, that's all! Not even an inch of space to move. All heads looked up. It was very cloudy as it is now, with just a slight drizzle.  Bhagavan's discourse was still planned.  The convenor and the office bearers of the Sathya Sai Organization of Dharmakshetra started shivering in their shoes.  What will happen to the public?  What will happen to the ladies who came with their children?  How can we still have Bhagavan's discourse?

Then one gentleman said slowly, "Swami, why can't we have your discourse now instead of at five o'clock?  Let us have it at four."

Bhagavan said, "Since the announcement has already been made, nothing doing.  You keep quiet."

So this man had no choice.  He returned.  Then what happened?  Swami opened His windows, looked at the sky full of dark clouds and lightening.  It could shower anytime.

And Bhagavan said, "That's all."

He waved His hand like this. Believe it or not, within ten minutes it was clear.  Everything - the whole sky was clear without any clouds.  And Bhagavan's discourse went on as scheduled, uninterrupted, without any disturbance.  This miracle shows that Bhagavan is the Master of the whole universe.  He is the Master of the five elements.  He can control anything.

Om Sai Ram

FROM PUTTAPARTHI...VIBHUTHI PRASADAM TO FATHER !!!

Swami's wonderful ways touches each and everyone of us, each and everyone of us who have come into Bhagawan's Divine Fold have been touched by Swami's Divine leela's one way or the other, everyone of us have been Touched by Swami's Divinity, that Divine spark is enough to make all of us be with Swami throughout our lives and Beyond.

In 1982, when I was a Student in Swami's college in Prasanthi Nilayam, Swami had hardly spoken to me even once, But Sitting in the Portico of the Prasanthi Mandir(Before Kulwanth hall was built) and having Swami's Darshan's everyday was a wonderful experience out of the world, During the start of that semester, My parents had come to

Prasanthi Nilayam and Swami out of the Blue called them for an interview, Swami told me to "Sit where I was" when I got up to go with my parents, In the interview, Swami said that "I will always be with you always, Don't worry", wonderful Soothing words from Swami.

Just before my parents were leaving the Next day, Swami called me in front of the Portico and gave me Vibuthi Prasadam and specificaly told me that "Give it to your father", As My parents were leaving immediately after evening Darshan, I disastrously kept that Vibuthi packet in my pocket and did not even recognise it the next day. My parents suffered a disastrous accident just on the outskirts of my town where I lived ,Although my Mother survived with minor Bruises, my father suffered major head and leg injuries, I got the news in the Morning via telegram and was devastated.

As I sat for darshan asking for permission to go to my place, Swami did not even glance at me even though I sat in the front of the Portico, That night I hardly slept, My parents were in hospital and here Swami did not even look at me forget about giving permission to go home and be with my parents, the next day I took special permission from my warden to go for morning darshan, Swami did not even look at me even though I got up twice, I thought that I should leave in the afternoon bus, I lied to the warden that Bhagawan had given me permission and that I have to leave, the bus was at 05.00 P.M in the evening, just as I took my luggage to board the Bus in the Bus stand, one of the Students ran towards me saying that "Swami was calling me", I ran to the Portico of the mandir immediately, Swami was in the interview room then, Just before bhajan Swami came out and said" Where is the Prasadam that I told you to give your father?, where is it?, Did you give it, No. you think I tell you something simply, If you would have given the Prasadam to your father, Things would not have come to this stage, Why are you leaving without telling me?, You think I do not know,It paines Swami a Lot, seeing his Boys lying to him, If something happned to you, what should I answer your parents, I told them yesterday that I will take care of you. See I had to give the Prasadam to your father myself"(These are the exact words of Swami as I remember them word to word even today and also I wrote them in my diary).

So saying Swami told me to go and then said "Don't worry tell your Amma and Nanna to come for the Birthday", Swami gave me Namaskar and then put His hand on my head. I left For my place, when I reached there in the night, My father was consiuos but both his legs were fractured, He told me that "A Person whom I knew" had come and given the Doctors Prasadam to give it to Him an said that "He should take it everyday". My father recovered and came for Swami's Birthday,Swami gave my Father namaskar and Prasadam.

That is the will of the Lord, that is How Swami touches Lives, that is How Swami's Love touches us and everyone. Can anyone tell me that if one is touched by Swami's Grace in such a way like Me as mentioned above and as many of you have also experienced how can anyone of us say that one should leave those people who try to malign Swami's name, Of course none can do so but I feel that It is the duty of all of us to try to do something in our own small way to show our Gratitude and Love for Bhagawan who has given us so much Love in our lives.

KUMAR MAHADEVAN

Om Sai Ram

Peace cannot be spread or promoted by anyone. The best that can be done is to show the way to others, to inform others of its sweetness. How can another's hunger be appeased by your eating food? The diner alone derives satisfaction from the dinner. Peace too is of such a nature. Love and fortitude are enough to confer peace. Let these virtues saturate your thought, word and deed. That is the way to establish world peace. Through world peace, individual peace can also be established. - SWAMI

FROM PUTTAPARTHI...Rathotsavam (Chariot Festival) held on18/11/08

18th November 2008 (the only opportunity I could take a picture of Swami last year)
The Rathotsavam (Chariot Festival) at Prasanthi Nilayam is a tradition that goes back to the early 1950's. This festival marks the beginning of the Birthday Celebrations of Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba. On this day, the students of Bhagawan, chanting Vedic hymns and singing Bhajans, lead a procession with the idol of Lord Krishna on a rath (chariot) and the idols of Lord Rama, Lakshmana and Mother Sita on a palanquin from Sai Kulwant Hall to the Old Mandir, or what is now the Kalyana Mantapam, in the village of Puttaparthi. After worship is offered to the deities, the idols of Rama, Lakshmana and Sita return to the Mandir. Later, in the evening, the idols are taken out in a procession in the village of Puttaparthi, amidst joyous celebration by the villagers.

FROM PUTTAPARTHI...JALA SAMAADHI !!!

A certain person was a captain during the second World War, but since he died of a commonplace disease in a civil hospital his widow did not get much by way of pension. So she had to earn some money teaching music, in order to keep her three children - two daughters and a son in elementary ease. The son passed his B.Sc examination with a first class from the Madras University, while still in his teens. The army authorities gave him a job in their cantonment office at Bangalore. His mother, who was overwhelmed with joy, sent him to offer homage to the family deity, Venkatachalapathi on the Tirumala Hills in Andhra Pradesh , so that he could join duty at Bangalore with divine blessings.

However what did happen was the boy got drowned in the holy tank of the temple. His body was in police custody for two days as it was unidentified. The anxious mother was confronted by the photograph of her son's corpse which appeared in the daily papers. But , Baba appeared to her in a dream and directed her to come to Puttaparthi. Bhagawan called her and her children for the precious interview. " Don't weep", He said , "for your son who led a disciplined life and was full of devotion, has now merged with God. When he has found the lotus feet of Bliss, you should not indulge in grief". But she could not be consoled.

Then Swami said, "I know your heart is broken since you could not have even a last glimpse of his body. See, it is here." Saying this, He spread His palm in front of her, and she could clearly see the events of that faithful pilgrimage appear upon it: The son slipped on the steps of the tank, and a few people jumped in to save him. A lotus like bunch of flames rose from his body and proceeded towards the innermost shrine where the idol of Venkatachalapathi is installed, disappearing in a blaze of glory of the Lord's feet. Then she saw the idol come alive and change into a charming image of Baba Himself.

After sometime Baba spoke to her, "Mother, the one you loved as your son was a staunch devotee of the Lord during his previous life. He was engaged in tapas for 12 years on the steps of this very holy temple tank. His deepest desire was to attain Jala samadhi(water-mergence) in those sacred waters. To fulfil that desire he took birth again. Remain in Puttaparthi, ever singing the glory of Venkatachalpathi, who has accepted you on into His fold".

Om Sai Ram

PS:

Some persons who have no experience and who do not put their words into practice, go about declaring that the way to peace is to keep samsaara (worldly life) at a distance. That is not peaceful living.  If you do not want the tree to grow, you will have to boil the seed or fry it over a fire; then it will not grow. Instead, if the seed is taken far away from the tree, will it not grow into a tree again? So too, the impulses and vasanas (desires, tendencies) are the seeds that germinate. They should be fried over the fire of discrimination only then can real peace emerge.  If one escapes from the responsibilities of life or duties to society, peace cannot be enjoyed; peace will never come. However, if the desires and tendencies are eliminated and controlled, there is no need to run away. - SWAMI

FROM PUTTAPARTHI...LORD RAMA & THE FROG !!!

AUM SAI RAM

'The Jiva (the embodied soul) will face no problems as long as it remains attached to the Atma, but if it gets tempted by the transient pleasures of the external world, then pain is inescapable.'- Sathya Sai Baba

One day, when Lord Rama was walking in the forest, He was stopped by His devotees, both men and animals, who were praying for a close 'darshan 'of the Lord. They all fell at His Lotus Feet in 'padanamaskar'. Lord Rama was overwhelmed by the devotion of His subjects and He involuntarily let go of His bow. The bow sadly landed on the tiny leg of a frog, who was also a big devotee of the Lord.  However, the frog was mesmerized by the sight of the Lord. He was so very lost in the contemplation of the Lord that he neither saw the bow landing on his limb nor did he feel any pain. After a few minutes and when Lord Rama decided to resume His walk, He lifted the bow. Only then did He painfully notice that it was crushing the little leg of the frog.

"Oh frog!" said Lord Rama with tears brimming in His beautiful eyes "Why didn't you draw my attention to this careless action of mine? Why didn't you scream? Why didn't you call for help? "

"Oh Rama, You are the self-luminous inner light of the Self!" answered the frog with outpouring love "if somebody else had trodden on my leg, I would have called your name-

'RAMA!  RAMA!'

But You are my Atma Rama and I am attached to You. So when YOU are the one who is trampling on my leg, whose name am I going to call?"

The true devotee is immersed in the Lord always and in all ways. As love of God grows, indifference to worldly things develops naturally.  Love for God confers Eternal Bliss. Love for worldly pleasures confers Ephemeral Blitz.

At the Lotus Feet of SAI

PS: You must have noticed the crane walking silently or standing motionless in order to catch a fish. Why? If it plunges headlong or runs about helter skelter, can it get the fish? Similarly, the Lord is the fish in the forms of Sathya, Dharma, Santhi & Prema. The Lord can never be won, when the hullabaloo of lust, anger, egoism and envy is rampant in the heart. If the bitter qualities of lust, anger and envy germinate in the heart, fear, anxiety and sloth will be the fruits thereof. When there is sugar on the tongue, you will feel the sweetness in the taste. Similarly, so long as the heart has Bhakthi, (Devotion) Santhi (Peace) and Prema (Love for Lord), you will be filled with  Ananda (Bliss).- SWAMI
