FROM PUTTAPARTHI...VIBHUTHI PRASADAM TO FATHER !!!

Swami's wonderful ways touches each and everyone of us, each and everyone of us who have come into Bhagawan's Divine Fold have been touched by Swami's Divine leela's one way or the other, everyone of us have been Touched by Swami's Divinity, that Divine spark is enough to make all of us be with Swami throughout our lives and Beyond.

In 1982, when I was a Student in Swami's college in Prasanthi Nilayam, Swami had hardly spoken to me even once, But Sitting in the Portico of the Prasanthi Mandir(Before Kulwanth hall was built) and having Swami's Darshan's everyday was a wonderful experience out of the world, During the start of that semester, My parents had come to

Prasanthi Nilayam and Swami out of the Blue called them for an interview, Swami told me to "Sit where I was" when I got up to go with my parents, In the interview, Swami said that "I will always be with you always, Don't worry", wonderful Soothing words from Swami.

Just before my parents were leaving the Next day, Swami called me in front of the Portico and gave me Vibuthi Prasadam and specificaly told me that "Give it to your father", As My parents were leaving immediately after evening Darshan, I disastrously kept that Vibuthi packet in my pocket and did not even recognise it the next day. My parents suffered a disastrous accident just on the outskirts of my town where I lived ,Although my Mother survived with minor Bruises, my father suffered major head and leg injuries, I got the news in the Morning via telegram and was devastated.

As I sat for darshan asking for permission to go to my place, Swami did not even glance at me even though I sat in the front of the Portico, That night I hardly slept, My parents were in hospital and here Swami did not even look at me forget about giving permission to go home and be with my parents, the next day I took special permission from my warden to go for morning darshan, Swami did not even look at me even though I got up twice, I thought that I should leave in the afternoon bus, I lied to the warden that Bhagawan had given me permission and that I have to leave, the bus was at 05.00 P.M in the evening, just as I took my luggage to board the Bus in the Bus stand, one of the Students ran towards me saying that "Swami was calling me", I ran to the Portico of the mandir immediately, Swami was in the interview room then, Just before bhajan Swami came out and said" Where is the Prasadam that I told you to give your father?, where is it?, Did you give it, No. you think I tell you something simply, If you would have given the Prasadam to your father, Things would not have come to this stage, Why are you leaving without telling me?, You think I do not know,It paines Swami a Lot, seeing his Boys lying to him, If something happned to you, what should I answer your parents, I told them yesterday that I will take care of you. See I had to give the Prasadam to your father myself"(These are the exact words of Swami as I remember them word to word even today and also I wrote them in my diary).

So saying Swami told me to go and then said "Don't worry tell your Amma and Nanna to come for the Birthday", Swami gave me Namaskar and then put His hand on my head. I left For my place, when I reached there in the night, My father was consiuos but both his legs were fractured, He told me that "A Person whom I knew" had come and given the Doctors Prasadam to give it to Him an said that "He should take it everyday". My father recovered and came for Swami's Birthday,Swami gave my Father namaskar and Prasadam.

That is the will of the Lord, that is How Swami touches Lives, that is How Swami's Love touches us and everyone. Can anyone tell me that if one is touched by Swami's Grace in such a way like Me as mentioned above and as many of you have also experienced how can anyone of us say that one should leave those people who try to malign Swami's name, Of course none can do so but I feel that It is the duty of all of us to try to do something in our own small way to show our Gratitude and Love for Bhagawan who has given us so much Love in our lives.

KUMAR MAHADEVAN

Om Sai Ram

Peace cannot be spread or promoted by anyone. The best that can be done is to show the way to others, to inform others of its sweetness. How can another's hunger be appeased by your eating food? The diner alone derives satisfaction from the dinner. Peace too is of such a nature. Love and fortitude are enough to confer peace. Let these virtues saturate your thought, word and deed. That is the way to establish world peace. Through world peace, individual peace can also be established. - SWAMI

FROM PUTTAPARTHI...Rathotsavam (Chariot Festival) held on18/11/08

18th November 2008 (the only opportunity I could take a picture of Swami last year)
The Rathotsavam (Chariot Festival) at Prasanthi Nilayam is a tradition that goes back to the early 1950's. This festival marks the beginning of the Birthday Celebrations of Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba. On this day, the students of Bhagawan, chanting Vedic hymns and singing Bhajans, lead a procession with the idol of Lord Krishna on a rath (chariot) and the idols of Lord Rama, Lakshmana and Mother Sita on a palanquin from Sai Kulwant Hall to the Old Mandir, or what is now the Kalyana Mantapam, in the village of Puttaparthi. After worship is offered to the deities, the idols of Rama, Lakshmana and Sita return to the Mandir. Later, in the evening, the idols are taken out in a procession in the village of Puttaparthi, amidst joyous celebration by the villagers.

FROM PUTTAPARTHI...JALA SAMAADHI !!!

A certain person was a captain during the second World War, but since he died of a commonplace disease in a civil hospital his widow did not get much by way of pension. So she had to earn some money teaching music, in order to keep her three children - two daughters and a son in elementary ease. The son passed his B.Sc examination with a first class from the Madras University, while still in his teens. The army authorities gave him a job in their cantonment office at Bangalore. His mother, who was overwhelmed with joy, sent him to offer homage to the family deity, Venkatachalapathi on the Tirumala Hills in Andhra Pradesh , so that he could join duty at Bangalore with divine blessings.

However what did happen was the boy got drowned in the holy tank of the temple. His body was in police custody for two days as it was unidentified. The anxious mother was confronted by the photograph of her son's corpse which appeared in the daily papers. But , Baba appeared to her in a dream and directed her to come to Puttaparthi. Bhagawan called her and her children for the precious interview. " Don't weep", He said , "for your son who led a disciplined life and was full of devotion, has now merged with God. When he has found the lotus feet of Bliss, you should not indulge in grief". But she could not be consoled.

Then Swami said, "I know your heart is broken since you could not have even a last glimpse of his body. See, it is here." Saying this, He spread His palm in front of her, and she could clearly see the events of that faithful pilgrimage appear upon it: The son slipped on the steps of the tank, and a few people jumped in to save him. A lotus like bunch of flames rose from his body and proceeded towards the innermost shrine where the idol of Venkatachalapathi is installed, disappearing in a blaze of glory of the Lord's feet. Then she saw the idol come alive and change into a charming image of Baba Himself.

After sometime Baba spoke to her, "Mother, the one you loved as your son was a staunch devotee of the Lord during his previous life. He was engaged in tapas for 12 years on the steps of this very holy temple tank. His deepest desire was to attain Jala samadhi(water-mergence) in those sacred waters. To fulfil that desire he took birth again. Remain in Puttaparthi, ever singing the glory of Venkatachalpathi, who has accepted you on into His fold".

Om Sai Ram

PS:

Some persons who have no experience and who do not put their words into practice, go about declaring that the way to peace is to keep samsaara (worldly life) at a distance. That is not peaceful living.  If you do not want the tree to grow, you will have to boil the seed or fry it over a fire; then it will not grow. Instead, if the seed is taken far away from the tree, will it not grow into a tree again? So too, the impulses and vasanas (desires, tendencies) are the seeds that germinate. They should be fried over the fire of discrimination only then can real peace emerge.  If one escapes from the responsibilities of life or duties to society, peace cannot be enjoyed; peace will never come. However, if the desires and tendencies are eliminated and controlled, there is no need to run away. - SWAMI

FROM PUTTAPARTHI...LORD RAMA & THE FROG !!!

AUM SAI RAM

'The Jiva (the embodied soul) will face no problems as long as it remains attached to the Atma, but if it gets tempted by the transient pleasures of the external world, then pain is inescapable.'- Sathya Sai Baba

One day, when Lord Rama was walking in the forest, He was stopped by His devotees, both men and animals, who were praying for a close 'darshan 'of the Lord. They all fell at His Lotus Feet in 'padanamaskar'. Lord Rama was overwhelmed by the devotion of His subjects and He involuntarily let go of His bow. The bow sadly landed on the tiny leg of a frog, who was also a big devotee of the Lord.  However, the frog was mesmerized by the sight of the Lord. He was so very lost in the contemplation of the Lord that he neither saw the bow landing on his limb nor did he feel any pain. After a few minutes and when Lord Rama decided to resume His walk, He lifted the bow. Only then did He painfully notice that it was crushing the little leg of the frog.

"Oh frog!" said Lord Rama with tears brimming in His beautiful eyes "Why didn't you draw my attention to this careless action of mine? Why didn't you scream? Why didn't you call for help? "

"Oh Rama, You are the self-luminous inner light of the Self!" answered the frog with outpouring love "if somebody else had trodden on my leg, I would have called your name-

'RAMA!  RAMA!'

But You are my Atma Rama and I am attached to You. So when YOU are the one who is trampling on my leg, whose name am I going to call?"

The true devotee is immersed in the Lord always and in all ways. As love of God grows, indifference to worldly things develops naturally.  Love for God confers Eternal Bliss. Love for worldly pleasures confers Ephemeral Blitz.

At the Lotus Feet of SAI

PS: You must have noticed the crane walking silently or standing motionless in order to catch a fish. Why? If it plunges headlong or runs about helter skelter, can it get the fish? Similarly, the Lord is the fish in the forms of Sathya, Dharma, Santhi & Prema. The Lord can never be won, when the hullabaloo of lust, anger, egoism and envy is rampant in the heart. If the bitter qualities of lust, anger and envy germinate in the heart, fear, anxiety and sloth will be the fruits thereof. When there is sugar on the tongue, you will feel the sweetness in the taste. Similarly, so long as the heart has Bhakthi, (Devotion) Santhi (Peace) and Prema (Love for Lord), you will be filled with  Ananda (Bliss).- SWAMI

FROM PUTTAPARTHI...QUESTIONS & ANSWERS !!!

Q: What is the correct relationship Swamiji, which exists between God and a devotee?

Bhagawan : 'I am yours,' can only be said from the devotee. 'I am yours God,' says the devotee and what does God say? 'You are Mine'. God does not say, 'I am yours.'

Q: Sometimes one gets a feeling that One is very close to God and at other times one feels that God has moved very far away. Would Swami please explain the reasons for those feelings?

Bhagawan: Jealousy and anger are responsible for these feelings. If these are controlled, then one is in a position to control the Supreme Spirit (Paramatma). That is, Swami comes near, otherwise he appears far from you. Sometimes the boys (referring here to His college boys) do not understand as to why Swami appears to be angry with them. They have to realize that their thoughts, which Swami knows, are responsible for Swami's reactions.

Source : QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS WITH BABA By Eruch B. Fanibunda - 1976 :

Taken from Swami's Talk to the Students in the Old Prasanthi Mandir Portico in November 1991 :

You are all getting small containers and asking for such a large quantity from me. How can I then give it? Swami never wants to waste his Love and grace. I want taste, not waste. But first, I test. You cannot straight away perform the operation without first performing some tests. Similarly, I first test your progress. I then give you the taste of my Love and grace. Once you have tasted it, you can rest.

FROM PUTTAPARTHI...FAITH !!!

Late Kutumba Rao was an ardent devotee of Baba, he came to Parthi in late 40s to see who this wonder kid is, after being impressed and convinced by Bhagawan he stayed back and did a great service at various levels in the Trust and passed away in 1989 .

Well, this happened in 1950 when Shri Kutumba Rao came to Parthi for Dharshan enroute to Tirupathi. His intentions were to stay at Parthi for 3 days and from there to go to Tirupathi for a couple of day's stay. As he spent time at Parthi, attended a few sessions of Chitravathi, bhajans he forgot the time. He only realized the time when his money coffers became empty. With full faith he prayed to Bhagawan for the success of his remaining part of the tour. As a response to that he heard a message in the evening that Swami would be leaving for Brindavan by late evening, which means that he lost the opportunity to talk to Bhagawan in the next morning.

The determined Kutumba Rao prayed and stayed. A few hours passed and Swami left for Brindavan. Shri Kutumba Rao was completely at lost as he left with penniless to go home or continue his journey. When he was in that dilemma a person came in search of Shri Kutumba Rao and asked him are you Mr. Kutumba Rao. After hearing in affirmative the stranger put a pocket in Kutmba Rao's hand, to his pleasant surprise, told him, Swami asked me to give you. Shri Kutumba Rao opened and found a set of currency notes in that packet.

The overjoyed devotee thanked the omniscient Lord and pursued his journey. He never counted how much money was there in that pocket. As the Lord sent, it should have sufficient money to take care of his journey. As he started spending money to his delight he kept on getting money.. He reached home and after spending some time with family he went inside the Pooja room to open the packet to count the money.

To his Surprise, there was only a Rupee note left in that.

This note is still in the Pooja room of the family members of Shri Kutumba Rao. That was the faith and that was the response of Lord.

Om Sai Ram

FROM PUTTAPARTHI...RESULT OF CHANTING THE HOLY NAME !!!

" Every name of God has power. But that power should be utilized properly and do bhajans. Each name has a power.

Once upon a time, a king told his parrot to go and chant the name of Rama to a newly born crow and make it too repeat the name. The parrot dutifully went to the crow and said, "You may be black, O crow! But listen and chant Rama's name. It will make you bright." Doing so, the crow fell down dead. The parrot felt very sad at this and reported to the king as to what happened.

But the king told the parrot to do the same task to a newly born peacock this time. "Oh peacock! You are beautiful and grand. Chant Rama's name and your glory will grow." The parrot told the peacock. The same thing happened there also. The parrot was now worried. Both birds had died.

Now the king told the parrot to tell the same to a new born calf. (emotionally) "Oh King! Let me not get an additional sin now. I will not kill a baby," said the parrot but to no avail. With trepidation, the parrot requested the calf to chant Rama's name. Doing so, the calf too breathed its last.

Finally, it came to be known that the prince was born. What was the reason for the human form that the prince had. The Lord's name liberated the soul from different bodies, of the crow, the peacock and the calf to finally gift it a human birth. This news spread all over the kingdom. Rama's name made the crow a beautiful peacock. The peacock evolved into the calf and the calf in turn got a human birth.

- From Bhagawan 2007 Akanda Bhajan Discourse

PS: Just imagine how humans can evolve by chanting the LORD'S name!!!

FROM PUTTAPARTHI...CH. 20 OF BHAGAWAD GITA!!!

Swami explains wonderfully the Chapter 20 of the Bhagawad Gita :

The Geetha clearly declares that only the Hrudaypushpa (heart-lotus), free from impurities, that grows in the Manasa-sarovar, the pellucid waters of the mind, is worthy to be offered to God. That is the reason why Krishna told Arjuna, "My dear brother-in-law, whatever
activity you are engaged in, whatever gift you give, whatever food you take, do it as a dedicated offering to Me; do everything in the dedicatory spirit as a tribute to God; for only such acts reach Me. I have no special preference for any one name; all names are Mine. I
know neither friend nor foe. I am the unaffected witness. I reside with all who serve Me and derive joy from that service."

This raised some doubts in Arjuna's mind. He asked, "Krishna! You say that you do not make any distinction, that you have neither friend nor foe; how then does it happen that some are happy and others are unhappy, some are strong in body and mind, some are weak and sickly, some are poor and some rich? What is the reason behind all this? When
you yourself are above any distinctions of such type, why can you not keep all in the same condition? Observing facts as they are, it is difficult to believe that you look upon all without any partiality."

Krishna laughed at this 'doubt' which worried Arjuna. "I give expression only to truth. I do not adjust My speech to merit your approval or disapproval; I am not elated when you approve, or depressed when you disapprove. I am the same in all. But all are not the same in Me. You have observed that during the cold months villagers sit around a fire at night; but only those who sit near the fire get refreshed by the warmth. Those squatting far away have also to put up with the darkness. If people stay afar and complain that they do not receive the warmth and that they have to suffer darkness, can you ascribe it to the partiality of fire? It is meaningless to argue from this that fire treats different people differently."

"The splendour of divine vision is akin to this - if you seek to earn it, you have to approach it and stay there. Everyone has equal right to do so and to feed the fire, so that it might illumine and warm even more. Fire is impartial; in deriving its benefit and in making
it grow into greater capacity, there are differences. I am splendour; I have no partiality at all. To experience Me and derive bliss from Me, all have equal chance, opportunity and authority. Distinctions and differences arise as a result of the faults of the Sadhakas. They
are not blemishes in Me."

Om Sai Ram
